The President of Udutama, Xavier Tió, with our collaborator Daow and Nam, one of the girls who received a scholarship

Our association has renewed the scholarships for studies and accommodation for young girls from ethnic minorities in northern Thailand, at risk of social exclusion, for this Thai school year 2015-2016. Together with our friend and volunteer Imma, we have created a fund that will cover all the needs for this two young girls, Pond, from the Akha ethnic minority, and Mei, from the Lahu ethnic group, who were already introduced in previous articles.

During the first quarter of 2015 we conducted an assessment visit in which we found that both Pond, as well as Mei and Nam, also supported by Udutama until she finished her diploma last year, they all passed with good results.

Mei, a girl from lahu hill tribe who has also received a grant

We want to thank, especially Imma, but also to other international volunteers and Udutama members, for their contribution to this project through the fees paid to Udutama. We also want to thank to Yui and Daow, two collaborators of Udutama in Thailand, for their mediation during our visit and their dedication to the fund management in Thailand.

After the evaluation process carried out with satisfactory results, this 2015 Udutama registration facilitates the same two programs organized by our counterparts in Thailand last year. And, as a novelty, we offer a new program of teaching English we hope you will like. The programs are open all year and will last until the end of March 2016.

The first program, which we call Mom Tik's Camp, teaching English (or French) in public schools in Isan, northeast of Thailand, is the fifth year that we offer with a very high level of satisfaction in the assessments we have done.

The second, alternative community-based tourism is the third year that we offer. Combines classic volunteering to help the community with alternative tourism, to support a program of community-based tourism development association of ethnic minorities in northern Thailand.

The third is offered this year for the first time. We call it "English Camp in the land of Phu Thai" and consists if teaching English in primary and secondary schools in Nakhon Phanom province, northeastern Thailand , near Laos, a region inhabited by the Phu Thai ethnic minority.

During february and march 2015, we plan to make another visit to Thailand. The goals of this trip are:

 Evaluate the progress of the education and accommodation grants for girls from ethnic minorities at risk

of social exclusion in Chiang Rai. Document the project and make new economic contribution for the 2015-2016 course

 Evaluate, together with our partners in 2014, the international volunteer programs:

 P1: Isan public schools

 P2: Cultural and alternative eco-trekking, a community-based tourism project

 Explore a new agreement for volunteers with a public school in the province of Nakhom Panom in Isan, the

origin of a person belonging to the Thai community in Barcelona, as part of a co-development program

 Explore a new agreement for volunteers with a school for students from ethnic minorities in the province

of Chiang Rai

We hope we will achieve all the goals we have set for 2015 and we want to thank our partners, donors, supporters,

volunteers and supporters for their assistance, affection and encouragement we have received.

Thanks very much to all of you !
